I just received news that I've been selected for the 2018 Anne McKee Artists Fund grant.
This grant will be used to fund a solo exhibition of my analogue film photography
+ a limited edition book of images from the show.
The exhibition will be held at the The Studios of Key West - date to be announced.
This town continually shows its support for the arts & artists in more ways than I've ever experienced before. For a 2x4 sq mile island it is a powerhouse of generosity when it comes to celebrating the creative. It's a joy to be living back here among the thriving creative community that is Key West.
I am humbled to be a part of the upcoming exhibition
'From A Woman's Hand'
at the Key West Art & Historical Society (KWAHS)
45 women artists - established & emerging - from the Florida Keys
will be represented in this annual exhibit which is back at KWAHS this year.

a sweet Wabi-sabi moment
not all of my emulsions make it to the stage I consider a 'final piece'
but there is still beauty in pieces like this . . . one that wasn't meant to be
I don't see this as a failed work
as each emulsion is temperamental & fragile . . .
the emulsion decides for itself if it will become something else on the paper
although this particular image did hold to the paper in the beginning,
it eventually fell away like an autumn leaf from its branch

I love the border that hides under the white polaroid frame...
each one with its subtle differences
The 2018 Anne McKee Fine Art Auction had a successful night on Friday & raised healthy proceeds for the artists involved & for the Anne McKee Artist Fund. My polaroid emulsion triptych, Broken, is now heading home with its new owner... all the way to Australia. The art that I created here, in Key West, Florida, is now journeying back to my home country to a region close to where my early ancestors settled... a full circle in many ways.
Thank you for your support, Colette.
I hope the piece gives you joy for many years.
